Sip for the Cure

Sip for the Cure began from something deeply personal.

Less than a year ago, I lost two close friends to cancer. Like so many people, I was left with that painful feeling of wanting to do more — of not wanting to simply stand by and watch such a devastating illness touch the lives of people I loved.

So I decided to turn that feeling into action.

I pulled my husband into the project with me, and together, with the incredible support of our friends and family here in Moraira, we raised almost €5,000 in just a couple of weeks. When we travelled to Valencia to deliver the funds to INCLIVA, we honestly thought it was a small contribution. But the gratitude and encouragement we received there told us otherwise. It was a powerful reminder that every effort matters, and that even what feels small can make a real difference.

That moment inspired us to continue.

What began as a heartfelt fundraising effort has since grown into something much bigger. We created Sip for the Cure as a registered non-profit association in Spain because we wanted to build something meaningful, responsible, and lasting — something that could grow year after year and bring people together in support of cancer research.

I certainly have not done this alone. In fact, Sip for the Cure 2026 would not be happening without the extraordinary support of our team. Each person has brought their own experience, talent, and energy to the project, with expertise across areas including local government, advertising, business, and more. Their generosity and commitment have helped turn a personal idea into a real and growing community effort, and I am deeply grateful to every one of them.

We have also been fortunate to receive pro bono support from Abogado Goya, partner at Agulló & Ronda, who has helped guide us through the incorporation process and legal requirements with great care and generosity.

At its heart, Sip for the Cure is about people coming together for something positive. It is about community, compassion, action, and hope. Nobody involved is here for personal gain. Everyone gives what they can because they believe in the cause and in the difference we can make together.

We are proud to be part of the wonderful community here in Moraira, and my hope is that Sip for the Cure will continue to grow — not only as a fundraiser, but as a family of supporters, volunteers, businesses, and friends united by a shared purpose.

Thank you for being here and for taking the time to learn about our story. I hope you will feel inspired to join us on this journey.

With love and gratitude,

Martha Ardila

The People Behind the Cause

Meet the Team

Sip for the Cure is powered entirely by volunteers who donate their time, skills, and passion. Our team is the heart of everything we do.

Martha Ardila

Martha Ardila

Founder & Event Director

A career diplomat who served with the United Nations in Colombia and as Consul General for Colombia in Turkey, Martha brought a lifetime of international experience with her when she moved to Moraira for family reasons. She quickly fell in love with the community and, after cancer touched her own family, felt a deep calling to give back. That determination led her to found Sip for the Cure — turning personal loss into collective action for cancer research.

Event Chair

Rachel believes the strength of Sip for the Cure lies in its community — people coming together with a shared purpose to make a real difference. As Event Chair, she helps bring that vision to life, one event at a time.

Brad Langford

Brad Langford

Marketing & Digital

With a career in advertising, Brad brings his creative and digital expertise to Sip for the Cure — handling the website, social media, branding, and communications. Ever so proud of his wife Martha’s determination and vision to make this happen, he was all in from day one. He also produced the promotional video and wrote the music for it — yes, it’s mainly AI-generated, but he loved the opportunity to try out the new technologies for a great cause.

Joost de Jong

Finance & Business Coordination

Joost believes that good causes deserve solid foundations. As Finance & Business Coordinator, he ensures transparency and accountability in everything the association does — so that every euro raised goes exactly where it should.

Sharda Chedi

Event Coordination & Logistics

In her daily work with Ayurveda and yoga, Sharda dedicates herself to guiding people toward a healthier, more balanced life. While she strongly believes in prevention and conscious living, she also recognises that health isn’t something we can fully control. That realisation is exactly why she chooses to be involved — because when prevention isn’t enough, support, hope, and community become essential. Contributing to Sip for the Cure allows her to stand alongside others and be part of something making a genuine difference in the fight against cancer.

Cor de Haan

Cor de Haan

Sponsor & Team Outreach

When Cor moved to Spain four years ago, he made a personal commitment to contribute to his new community through volunteer work, just as he had done in the Netherlands. Cancer has had a profound impact on his life, with two close relatives recently lost to the disease and others still fighting. These experiences make the cause deeply meaningful to him, and he dedicates his time and energy to raising awareness and supporting efforts that fund cancer research.
