Sip for the Cure · Year-end appeal
The 250 Club
Give €250 before 31 December. If you pay income tax in Spain, it costs you €50.
Eighty per cent of the first €250 you give to a qualifying research foundation comes back to you on your Renta. Dr Verdú’s children’s lymphoma trial at INCLIVA receives the full amount. You are fifty euros lighter.
We promised to raise €50,000 for INCLIVA this year, and we meant it. Thanks to everyone who walked, donated, sponsored, baked, bid and gave up their Sunday — you have already carried us €35,000 of the way. The 250 Club is how we close the last €15,000 before 31 December.
€15,000 still to go before we reach the €50,000 we promised this year.
The arithmetic
Why €250 is the number we’re asking for
Spanish law returns 80% of the first €250 given to a foundation covered by Ley 49/2002. INCLIVA is one. Above €250 the rate drops to 40%, so the first €250 is by a distance the most efficient gift you can make.
INCLIVA receives the whole €250 either way. And if you and your partner both file a return, you can each do it — €500 into the trial for €100 between you.

How to join
Open the Sip for the Cure page at INCLIVA
Donations have to go directly to INCLIVA rather than through us. There is a page there for our campaign, and it is the only route that produces a tax certificate.
Choose “Otra cantidad” and enter 250
The form offers €10, €30 and €50 as presets. None of those is what you came for. Click Otra cantidad — other amount — and type 250. The page is in Spanish by default; there is an English switch in the header.
Email INCLIVA for your certificate
The certificate is not issued automatically. You have to ask for it, at the time you pay and in any case before the year ends. Without it there is no deduction — this is the step people miss.

What it pays for
Dr Verdú on the next €15,000
In May, 213 of you walked up through the vineyards above Moraira and raised €23,395 between you, from 575 separate donations. In June we handed €35,000 to INCLIVA in Valencia. It went into the REPLY trial — children with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer that attracts far less research funding than it should.

“Again, thank you for all that you have done for our work here at INCLIVA. Every euro will help us to find a treatment for childhood blood cancer. It has been an amazing year to work with Sip for the Cure. Again, thank you for considering one more donation in 2026.”

The honest part
Why this one doesn’t come through us
Sip for the Cure is an asociación, not a foundation, and we are not declarada de utilidad pública. That puts us outside Ley 49/2002, which means we cannot issue tax certificates however much we would like to. INCLIVA can, and does.
So for this particular gift you give to them directly, with Sip for the Cure as the campaign. It still counts towards our total, we still see it, and it still lands in the same trial. We simply never touch the money.
For reference
What different amounts come back
| You give | You claim back | It costs you | Effective relief |
|---|---|---|---|
| €100 | €80 | €20 | 80% |
| €250 | €200 | €50 | 80% |
| €250 each, as a couple | €400 | €100 | 80% |
| €500 | €300 | €200 | 60% |
| €1,000 | €500 | €500 | 50% |
80% on the first €250, 40% above it, rising to 45% above €250 if you have given INCLIVA the same or more in each of the two previous years — which is why we are calling this a club rather than a Christmas appeal. Total relief is capped at 10% of taxable income, which will not affect anyone at these amounts. Companies deduct 40% or 50% depending on their giving over the previous two years.
If you don’t pay Spanish tax
None of the above applies to you, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise
There is no Spanish equivalent of Gift Aid, and a Spanish charity cannot access it. If you file your taxes somewhere else, a donation here is simply a donation — worth exactly as much to the trial, worth nothing to your tax bill. You should know that before you give rather than after.
If you would still like to, the ordinary donation page is the easier route, and it stays open all year.
Questions
The things people ask
How does the 80% actually reach me?
It isn’t a payment. It is a deduction from the tax you owe, claimed on the Renta you file in spring 2027 for the 2026 year. INCLIVA reports the donation to Hacienda and issues your certificate, and in most cases the figure is already there when you open your draft return.
What if I give more than €250?
The first €250 attracts 80%. Everything above it attracts 40%. So €500 returns €300 and costs you €200 — still good, but the first €250 is the efficient part, which is why we ask for exactly that.
What if I do it again next year?
Give the same amount or more to INCLIVA in three consecutive years and the rate above €250 rises from 40% to 45%. It is a small thing, but it is the reason this is a club you can rejoin rather than a one-off appeal.
I’m not resident, but I own a property here and file a Modelo 210.
There may be relief available against IRNR on Spanish-source income. We are checking and would rather not promise anything until we know. Ask your own adviser in the meantime.
What if I’d rather not hand over my NIE and address?
Then donate without them. INCLIVA cannot issue a certificate without those details, so there will be no deduction, but the donation itself works exactly the same way.
When does the certificate arrive?
After the year end, in time for the Renta. We can’t give a firm date because it is INCLIVA’s process rather than ours — but ask for it at the time you donate and it will be in hand.
How do I know my gift counted towards Sip for the Cure’s total?
Give through the Sip for the Cure campaign page rather than INCLIVA’s general donation form. INCLIVA reports the campaign total back to us and we publish the final figure in January.
31 December
It is a real deadline, not a marketing one
It is the day the Spanish tax year closes. After it, the 80% is gone until next Christmas.
